£1000 donated to a former rugby star's charity.

Creigiau 23 were recently privileged to have former Welsh rugby international Richard Parks as the guest speaker for the December 2012 dinner meeting.

During the evening, Richard gave a truly inspirational account of his record breaking attempt to became the first man in the world to stand on the highest peaks of all seven continents and trek to both Poles in the same calendar year when he conquered the summit of Mount Elbrus in Russia on July 12.

He beat his own seven-month target by more than a fortnight, completing the challenge in six months, 11 days, seven hours and 53 minutes.

Despite suffering frostbite in his big toe on Mount Everest, Richard went on to complete the extraordinary feat by going on to scale Denali in the United States and Mount Elbrus in the Russian Caucasus.

After a standing ovation and an impromptu collection, Creigiau 23 were pleased to donate a cheque for £1000 to Richard's chosen charity, Marie Curie. Well done , Richard!!.

Our boys in Dublin.

Congratulations to Eurof and Gerry for finishing the recent Dublin Marathon.

Despite being seasoned campaigners at this distance, both would admit that they found it tough and it was only the thought of 'a drop of the black stuff' at the finish that kept them going! Eurof finished in a time of 3hrs and 38 minutes, with Gerry a few minutes later despite struggling the last few miles with a calf injury.

Eurof and Gerry before the Marathon. Sorry but we don't have a post run photo !!!
Most normal people would be happy with that and take some time off, but not these two, back in training for their next one, The Boston Marathon in April !!!.
