Chairman's Report

It only seems like yesterday when I took over the Chairmanship from Adrian and the Carnival week is now upon us.

Over the last few months, the Carnival committee and Creigiau 23 have been busy organising another exciting Carnival. Rain or shine we urge you to support the Carnival, as this our main fundraising event.

Don't forget though, as well as the carinival, there are mnay other events on during the week. They include the Fun Run, Open Gardens, Quiz just to name a few.

For those of you that are not aware, we are very active in the local community and organise a number of social events for the community as well as fund raising for local clubs and groups. Last year we were able to distribute over £3600.00 to local organisations.

We are a firmly established organisation within the Village, whose purpose is to support the community by raising funds for local organisations and groups in Creigiau and the surrounding area.

As well as taking part in the Carnival organisation, Creigiau 23 organises the village festivities at Christmas, such as the Christmas Eve Santa tour of village including a family get together in the Church Hall where some 125 children had the opportunity to meet and double check with Santa that he had their list! The Boxing Day Walk in the countryside surrounding our Village continues to grow in popularity, with over 250 turning out to burn off some of the excesses of the previous day.

A new event was added to the events calendar in 2007, when along with the Cricket Club we help to set up the Village Cricket Tournament. Whilst it was rained off last year thanks to the Great British weather, it is back on this year and we hope for a super day.

As already mentioned we take an active part in the Carnival, where you’ll find us providing the BBQ and Bar, and as usual the wives of Creigiau 23 members will be selling cakes at a nearby stall.

All members of Creigiau 23 wish every success to this year’s Carnival, and hope that you thoroughly enjoy yourselves.

Over the next few days the Carnival/Creigiau 23 Newsletter will be distributed to your homes, however, you can also download your own copy if you wish by clicking here.

Thank you.
