Boxing Day Walk.

Walkers outside Creigiau Inn

pproximately 240 walkers were greeted by the Creigiau 23 Chairman – Mr Gerry O'Beirne – at 10.30am on Boxing day outside the Creigiau Inn prior to leading the eager gathering out towards Heol Pantygored. The Chairmans brisk walking pace - being slower than his normal marathon running - quickly resulted with a string of walkers following behind.

This years route was challenging for some walkers due to the muddy / wet conditions underfoot but thankfully the 2012 rainfall ceased for a few hours in order that the Creigiau walkers could enjoy this traditional Boxing Day event across our fantastic landscape.

Our Stop/Go Lolipop men, or in this case Go Go !!!

A total distance of 3.36 miles was recorded by the Chairman, which included traversing along Pantygored Road (with our own Creigiau 23 ‘Lolipop men’ – Dave and Leighton – ensuring that all traffic management health and safety was being observed) and thereafter across rain soaked fields and bridle ways of the locality.

Light refreshments being provided and served by the Creigiau 23 wives within the grounds of the Craig y Parc School (Pentyrch) – which included hot mulled wine, mince pies, sausage rolls, crisps sweets and fizzy drinks.

The Pit StopThe Pit Stop

Creigiau 23 would like to thank Craig y Parc School for their continued co-operation in respect to this years event.

All walkers completed the course within 1 ˝ - 2 hours (again this time being slightly longer that the Chairmans usual running pace) with the walk concluding at the Creigiau Inn – whereby some walkers and Creigiau 23 members required further hydration !!

Have a look at some more photos from the walk and thanks to Tom Burns for supplying some of these.

And finally,

Season's Greetings to you all from everybody at Creigiau 23.
