2014 Carnival Report

The 2014 Creigiau Carnival was a great success and Creigiau 23 once again played a pivotal role in that success. Despite the forecast of rain, the residents of Creigiau turned out in huge numbers to cheer on the floats and support all the stalls and attractions.

Working in conjunction with the Carnival Committee, Creigiau 23 started the planning some months ago. A week before the carnival, we decorated the centre of the village with the traditional bunting and banners used to herald the advent of the big day and also helped to sell the carnival programmes.

On the day of the carnival, members arrived at the ‘Rec’ at 8 O’clock to set up the 4 large marquees and 14 gazebos used to house the myriad of stalls.

Members sold programmes, drove floats and ran the BBQ and Beer Tents, whilst our partners sold their homemade cakes. Then, at the end of the day, we took it all down again (in the rain!), before retiring to the Creigiau Inn for a well earned drink....or two! As usual, despite the rain showers doing their best to interrupt play, villagers stayed to support the carnival events - Creigiau residents are definitely made of strong stuff!

Feel free to view our photo from the day. Thanks to Tom Burns for being our official photographer once again.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those members who so unselfishly gave freely of their time and effort to support the Carnival. They, together with their partners, helped us raise funds which will be used to support local organisations and national charities, as well a funding the events we put on at Christmas for the residents of the village. In addition, I would also like to thank the Carnival committee for all their hard work and last but certainly not least, the residents of Creigiau for continuing to support the wonderful annual event.

Diolch/Thank you .
