ith all the austerity measures announced recently it is nice to see that Santa’s visit to the Creigiau Church hall has not been part of Cameron’s cutbacks!

As normal and shortly after 4 o’clock on Christmas Eve, Santa escorted by his trusty elves, started on its journey around the village. However on the grounds of 'Elf and Safety', this year Santa decided to leave his usual sled parked up until he needed it a few hours later.

Along side the new Head Elf Dewi, were our marathon runners Gerry and Eurof. Being light on their feet was a prerequisite in such slippery conditions. Making up the dynamic five were 'Driver Leighton' and 'Jones the Voice'.

Around the village they went, ably driven by new elf Leighton, handing out goodies to all they came across, even the British Gas man in Parc y Fro !!

With another new elf, 'Jones the Voice' providing the bilingual announcements. Luckily he had just recovered from a recent bout of 'tinselitis' !!

On arriving at the Church Hall, with the kids waiting patiently and the parents tucking into the free mince pies and mulled wine, Santa was greeted to the tune of Frosty the Snowman expertly played by the CAVMS Christmas Eve Ensemble.

By now the hardy outdoor Elves had become surplus to requirements and had been replaced by the Indoor version, it is obvious that there is no shortage of Creigiau 23 members who want to put on those green tights!

As the queue dwindled or more to the point the mulled wine ran out, one or two unscrupulous kids came back for seconds. However, new Elf, Anthony, wasn’t having that on his shift !!

All in all, over 100 kids had braved the cold to come and Santa.

By now, the Head Elf could also be seen regularly checking his watch as they had to leave soon. After all they were going to have a busy night..... up the Creigiau Inn !!

Finally, thanks to everyone who helped, Elves, wives and of course, Santa, in making this a successful evening, despite the weather.
