Santa comes to Creigiau.

ith the ice and snow of recent years causing chaos on Santa’s tour around the village, it was nice to see this year’s event free of such disruption.

Snow might be picturesque on the Boxing Day walk, but it’s not good for Santa and his Elves on Christmas Eve as they make their way around the narrow village streets. Despite being seasoned professionals, our elves are not getting any younger, so jumping on and off Santa’s moving sled in icy conditions has its risks.

With the sad demise of Santa’s Sled last year, one of his little Elves has been busy and a replacement was found. Thanks to Bruce and his mates at Smiths Skips, Santa’s Saxo was born !!

As it started getting dark, Santa was first spotted leaving Tregarth Court heading towards Parc Y Bryn and it didn’t take long for the villagers to realise that Santa was on his way, thanks to ‘Jones The Voice’ who was in control of the PA.

A couple of hours later with the tour coming to an end, Santa could be seen making his way to the Church hall where the kids and even teenagers !!!! were waiting eagerly.

For the waiting parents, free mince pies, mulled wine and music from the CAVMS Ensemble made sure everyone got into the festive spirit.

By this stage our hardy outdoor Elves had given way to the fair weather variety, who were keeping order and made sure those teenagers didn’t queue up for seconds.

Although Santa and his helpers would have loved staying at the Church Hall all night, he had to leave as he was going to be very busy later in the evening.

For the 115 kids that visited Santa it was off home for an early night in preparation for the big day. The elves on the other hand had finished their shift and could be seen walking over to the Inn for some light refreshments!!!

Finally, thanks to everyone who helped, Elves, wives and of course, Santa, in making this a successful evening, yet again.
