O

n Saturday 26th January 2013, transport (provided by Creigiau Travel) was arranged for those requiring it, from the Creigiau Inn to Canada lake and Lodge at approximately 7.00pm, whereby all 110 guests comprising of members wives, partners and friends were greeted by not only the wonderful setting of the stone built lodge overlooking Canada Lake but also by a warm ‘heatwave’ – provided by the characteristic ambience of the log burning stoves located within the lavish function rooms.

With all guests allocated to their table places, and the ladies receiving the now traditional ‘Ladies Night’ gift/favour , Mr Chairman welcomed all with his “nosweff da” and thereafter asked Mr Dave Dawkins to offer grace and the expectation of the meal was thereafter eagerly awaited by all.

All of which was devoured by the guests with no complaint and the comments of ‘excellent food’ or ‘this Beet is excellent’ being echoed throughout the dining area.

A desert was then offered of the traditional Apple crumble, whiskey custard or Fresh strawberry roulade which again complemented the excellent menu and service provided by all of the catering staff.

The Vice Chairman, Eurof , then addressed the guests and thanking in particular the Chairmans wife – Bernadine – and his wife – Sarah – for their contributions to the Creigiau 23 events throughout 2012 – with both receiving a bouquet of fresh flowers. Eurof therafter confirmed that the usual suspicious characters of the Creigiau 23 membership will be parading the dining area with raffle tickets in hand in order to raise further funds for the Creigiau community.

The Chairman thereafter commenced the raffle draw and the fortuitous winners walking away with their raffle prizes which included a well known ultra thin tablet (whereby some of the guests thought that it was a bar of chocolate !), a well known bottle of Tennessee whiskey (reluctantly donated by the Vice Chair himself ! ); a case of wine; a designer teaset and gift vouchers from a well know music download provider !

With the meal and formalities complete, the vice Chair announced that some of the Creigiau 23 members (especially Leighton and Glyn) were anxious to ‘hit the dance floor’ and therefore announced that a disco has been arranged with the music provided by the DJ thereafter attracting most of the guests to the dance floor as well!

A big THANK YOU for the Sarah and Eurof Davies for arranging the evening and to all that supported the evening, which has been noted as being one of the successful and enjoyable social evenings that is always provided by the Creigiau 23.
